Medicover takes over Holmes Place in Poland

At the beginning of March, Medicover became the new owner of exclusive Holmes Place fitness clubs in Poland. The buyer intends to further develop the chain while maintaining the existing standard, branding and expertise of the Holmes Place brand. The transaction is in line with Medicover's strategy, which for several years has been intensively developing its activities not only in the healthcare sector, but also in the wellness, sports and leisure sectors.

The well-known fitness club chain Holmes Place will be added to the portfolio of Medicover, which has acquired 100% of the company's shares. This is another Medicover acquisition in the fitness industry. Last year Medicover became the owner of the Fitness World chain of clubs in Poland, and in 2018 Medicover acquired the operator of sports packages for employees - OK System (now Medicover Sport). The company's goal is to further expand and strengthen its position in the world of sports.

"We are consistently expanding our market share in the fitness services market by adding the Holmes Place brand to our portfolio, which has been synonymous with premium class in the sports club category for 15 years. This investment is another example of our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, well-being, sports and leisure," says Artur Białkowski, Managing Director Business Services, Medicover Poland. "We are very happy to have such a strong brand in our portfolio. We want to continue the development of Holmes Place in Poland and work together on the future offer, as well as collaborate with the current staff," he adds.

"Holmes Place's mission from the beginning has been to inspire people to lead a healthy, active and balanced lifestyle. Today, we know that similar values are shared by Medicover. Therefore, we believe that the incorporation of the Holmes Place brand in Poland into Medicover is a well-thought-out development step for our network, but also for our employees. Today Medicover has a strong position in the medical services market, but is also growing more and more in the sports and leisure sector. This guarantees us a better development and strengthening of our current position," comments Anna Bogucka, COO Holmes Place.

"I am very pleased that Medicover is the new owner of Holmes Place Poland Clubs, expanding its activities in the fitness sector. For many years at Holmes Place we have believed that physical activity is the best way to take care of physical and mental health. It is also encouraging to see that medical providers are increasingly focusing on prevention and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Medicover has a high quality medical service offering, solid financial resources and a strong understanding of the Polish market, so this promises to be a very good and exciting collaboration. I would like to thank the entire Holmes Place team in Poland for their loyalty, commitment to the Holmes Place vision and values," adds Jonathan Fisher, CEO of Holmes Place Brands.

Holmes Place is an international chain of fitness clubs with over 40 years of heritage. The first club under the Holmes Place brand opened in Chelsea, London in 1980, and the first Holmes Place in Poland in 2006. There are currently three clubs in Warsaw: Holmes Place Premium Hotel Hilton, Holmes Place Premium Hotel Marriott and Holmes Place Fitness C.H. Skorosze and one in Wrocław in the well-known futuristic complex OVO.
