Basic-Fit: Membership Growth and Reiterated Full-Year Guidance

European fitness operator Basic-Fit has published its trading update for the third quarter of 2026. The company reports continued strong growth in memberships, drives its European expansion and integrations forward, and reiterates its guidance for the full year 2026, which was raised during the course of the year.

During the first nine months of 2026, Basic-Fit increased group revenue by 18% to €1.217 billion (compared to €1.034 billion in the same period last year). The number of owned clubs grew year-on-year by 9% or 156 locations to a total of 1,809 clubs (9M 2025: 1,653). At the same time, the number of memberships in owned clubs rose by 15% to 5.42 million (9M 2025: 4.73 million), representing an increase of 690,000 members. The average number of members per Basic-Fit club increased over the course of the year to 3,035 (FY 2025: 2,902), while the average revenue per user (ARPU) per month climbed slightly to €25.64 (9M 2025: €25.28).

"In the third quarter, we saw the strong membership trend continue. [...] Through a mix of organic, inorganic and franchise-driven growth we will grow the network while bringing our ROCE up to low to mid-teens in the medium-term", comments Rene Moos, CEO of Basic-Fit.

Based on the strong performance in the third quarter, management is reiterating its outlook for the full year 2026. Group revenue is expected to be between €1.64 billion and €1.69 billion, alongside an underlying EBITDA less rent ranging from €430 million to €460 million. Furthermore, the company expects around 50 net openings of owned clubs. A significant improvement in positive free cash flow (compared to €26.1 million in financial year 2025) and a leverage ratio of just over 2.0 times are also anticipated.

In terms of expansion and M&A, Basic-Fit is driving forward key integrations. In Germany, the integration of the acquired wellyou and Kraftwerk clubs is underway, with the total of 49 locations expected to reopen as Basic-Fit clubs at the beginning of 2027 and the German owned network growing to 127 clubs to reach the critical mass of 200 locations. In Austria, the 33 Clever Fit clubs and 18 Speedfit clubs are scheduled to be converted to the Basic-Fit format in the summer of 2027 to strengthen market leadership. In addition, the capital-light franchise business is gaining momentum; the launch of the proprietary Basic-Fit franchise offering is planned before the end of the year, bringing the total club network including franchise locations to 2,246 clubs at the end of September 2026.
