Fitness World acquires Denmark's SATS studios

According to Danish group TryghedsGruppen, all six Danish clubs under the SATS brand were acquired by competitor Fitness World A/S on 1 January 2013.

As part of the fitness operator Health & Fitness Nordic (HFN), SATS belongs to TryghedsGruppen. According to Olav Johan Thorstad, CEO of HFN, it was not possible to make the studios of the Medium chain profitable despite all efforts. The facilities will continue to operate under the Fitness World brand with the existing staff. After the takeover, SATS now still has 102 studios in Scandinavia. In the future, HFN wants to focus on expanding the presence of its Fresh Fitness discount brand in the Danish market. 11 of the 20 Fresh Fitness clubs so far are already located in Denmark.
